Soft Bathtubs
Upon hearing “soft bathtub” most people don’t have any idea what is actually being referred to. The term soft bathtub does in fact refer to a literally soft sanitaryware appliance. However, a soft bathtub is not made of rubber or jelly like the immediate minds-eye interpretation would suggest, nor does it flop around under weight or physical stress. So the next question is how exactly does the soft bathtub work?
In general, a soft bathtub is a bathtub lined with a durable and easy-to-clean waterproof skin. This skin has an underlay of soft foam, which moulds to the contours of your body, giving rise to a luxurious bathing experience. For more ideas on luxury bathing see luxury bathtubs.
Safety
Various surface textures are available to protect against slips and falls, but even without this, soft bathtubs are no more dangerous than the traditional acrylic or steel bathtubs. If anything, a fall would result in less severe injuries than a normal bathtub due to cushioning.
Thermal
As well as physical comfort, any material that traps air acts as insulation, thus your bath water will retain its heat longer. Whilst this will not solve the apparent world energy crisis, it will help control the temperature of your bath water meaning you can remain soaking undisturbed for even longer.
Durability
As regards durability, the “skin” of the soft lining is surprisingly tough. It is high-tech in terms of modern-day textile technology, incorporating a special coating element that protects against sharp edges. It is elastic and will return to its original shape and position.
Noise
If you are like me, you prefer to bathe late at night. This is impractical for other family members due to noise – dropping soap or shampoo bottles whilst in the shower, or the sound of getting into and out of a hard bathtub. A soft bathtub cushions any dropped items and heels don’t clatter against the bottom. That familiar squeaking noise may still be there with some models due to the material composition of the skin, but even this noise is reduced due to the insulation.
