Many of the articles on this website concentrate on sanitaryware, taps and other elaborate means of bathroom renovation, but even something as simple as a shower curtain can add the finishing touch to your bathroom. However, choosing the wrong one can be detrimental.
Be sure to choose a shower curtain that compliments the rest of your bathroom. Fortunately, there are many different designs available so be sure to hunt around until you find the one that is right for you. Whilst bathroom accessories also offer your bathroom character and life, a shower curtain often becomes a focal point in, particularly if it is grubby. This is the last thing you’d want if you have guests over. Fortunately, most shower curtains are inexpensive and disposable, but this also means you have no excuse for one that is covered in mould and smelly.
Designer Shower Curtains
There are many designer shower curtains to choose from, as well as styles to suit all sorts of bathroom designs. For example, a double swag shower curtain can look very elegant in a luxury bathroom suite. It may even be the factor giving a particular bathroom its luxury status. Double swag shower curtains consist of two drapes drawn to each side of the bathtub or shower, with a waterproof lining on the non-visible/bathtub side. Some have a sliding centre curtain, which allows the side curtains to remain undisturbed.
Children’s Shower Curtains
If you have children or grandchildren a novelty shower curtain just for them can add a touch of fun to bathing times. Prints of popular cartoon characters and other generic animal images are available and are fairly cheap to buy. They can usually be machine-washed or washed by hand. This approach to more colourful bathing times can be useful for getting children who are reluctant to go in the bathtub washed without as much hassle.
If you don't already have one, tension rods can be bought at a low cost meaning it doesn’t matter if your children pull on the shower curtain. They are simple to fit and operate using a spring-loaded mechanism. Even when pulled down they are quick and simple to put back up.
Even shower hooks can be customised for children. They are available in the shape of sailboats, rubber ducks and a variety of other designs. Before I looked at children’s shower curtains specifically, I was unaware that such a huge number of plastic and fabric shower curtains are actually aimed at younger audiences.
Christmas Shower Curtains
A festive shower curtain can be a fun addition to your bathroom in the run up to Christmas. Plastic shower curtains are very cheap, especially in discount stores, so buying one just for use over the Christmas season won’t blow your budget. Novelty shower curtains such as pictures of Santa Claus are particularly popular with children and add to the magic.
